Star Trek is back!

Okay so I’m a little behind the rest of the world who saw Star Trek the first weekend it opened. I wanted to see it then but couldn’t. I wanted to see it when I was in Phoenix the third week of May. But Christine isn’t into science fiction. I didn’t think she’d go see it. So I had to wait.

On Friday I went to see it with my parents. My treat. They needed a break from helping out with my sister’s baby. I wanted the company. I hate going to the theatre alone. So we went to the 6:50 showing. Despite this being the fourth weekend it was out the theatre was pretty full. And there was good reason for that.

IT WAS AWESOME! Forgive the all capitals. I couldn’t help myself. I think we’re going to go see it again. I think all the actors did a great job with their characters. I thought the best, when it came to keeping the characters as close to the original as possible, were Simon Pegg playing Scotty and Karl Urban as Bones. Chris Pine did a great job as Kirk but I never thought the original Kirk was as sexy as Chris Pine’s Kirk. I will definitely be buying this movie on DVD when it comes out. And I can’t wait for more movies in the franchise. With such a young cast the possibility for more than a couple sequels is huge.

I want to be able to write movies like Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci. Those guys rock. Can’t wait for the Transformers sequel or the Star Trek sequel.
