Six Sentence Sunday – 3/25/2012

It’s that time again. Six more sentences from my urban fantasy suspense thriller, Almost Normal. We get a little more insight into Sierra’s character.

Sierra slipped into her seat and smiled at her best friend. It had been ages since they’d been able to talk let alone get together in person because she’d been such a hermit lately. The anniversary of her family’s death did that to her. She didn’t want to deal with the world and face the reason she had survived the accident and they didn’t. When she got like this she just wanted to stay away from people as much as possible but this case had interferred with that. The sooner she solved the case the sooner she could go back to being a hermit.

Six Sentence Sunday – 3/18/2012

It’s Six Sentence Sunday again! Here are another six from my urban fantasy suspense thriller, Almost Normal.

“Fuck.”

Sierra looked up when Mike slammed down the phone receiver back in its cradle. It took a lot for him to swear so she knew the news would not be good.

“What’s wrong?”

“Could be nothing but my gut says it’s a huge something. Fifty-five year old Ellen Marks was reported missing by her husband an hour ago.”

Six Sentence Sunday – 3/11/12

Another six from my urban fantasy suspense thriller, Almost Normal. Sierra is at her partner’s place for dinner and is expecting him to be playing matchmaker.

Sierra knocked on Mike's door then smoothed her pants. She hated going into social situations where she didn't know what to expect. Her partner had mentioned a number of times that she should find a guy and settle down. She couldn't tell him the reason she could never do that so she made excuses. Excuses she was beginning to run out of forcing her to finally say yes to dinner at his place.

The door swung open and Mike's wife stood there with a huge smile on her face.

Monday will be another website DIY post. This one talking about headers and backgrounds.

Six Sentence Sunday – 3/4/2012

Last week I let my pen name take a whirl at Six Sentence Sunday but this week I’m back. I’ve got six more sentences from my urban fantasy, Almost Normal. These are after she returns home and has started laundry. She gets a call from her lieutenant about a body in the park.

Almost immediately Sierra spotted the first responder. A constable for only a year, he was still green, and at the moment he literally was green. It couldn’t have been his first homicide call but his cheeks puffed out in a natural gag response. She found her partner and lieutenant on the other side of the crime scene tape, deep in the park.

“What have we got this time?” she asked.

“Same as the one last week,” her partner said and gestured to the body.

Six Sentence Sunday – 2/19/12

It’s that time again. Here are six more sentences from my urban fantasy, Almost Normal. We get a little more about Sierra. Even though she’s a police detective she’s not much of a people person.

Sierra shut her apartment door and plopped into the sofa in front of the television. If she wanted to be more productive she should take up a hobby or go into the station. There were always cases to be solved and she wasn’t the least bit tired. For now she threw in a load of laundry in the stacked washer and dryer in the hallway. The first thing she did when she moved into the apartment was get the stacked combo so she wouldn’t have to go down to the laundry room. She didn’t do small talk and didn’t want to risk running into neighbours who wanted to be neighbourly.

Six Sentence Sunday – 2/12/12

This is another six from my urban fantasy, Almost Normal. I finally went back to writing it this week. Figured out a few more scenes I need to add. This continues a little after the first six.

How the hell was she supposed to act scared when he was pretending to try to kill her? Even if it was real her training would kick in and she’d be able to kick his ass into next Tuesday. Sierra sighed. That’s why she was here, subjecting herself to the humiliation of being “directed”. She needed to learn this shit, make it believable.

From the other side of the stage a loud yawn filled the theatre.

Tomorrow I’ll be posting part 2 in my Website DIY series.
