Despite our lack of vocalization, most Canadians are extremely proud to be Canadian. We’re just subdued about it. That is until last night. The Canadian Men’s hockey team won the gold medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics. It was an awesome game. Nail biter. I love those and I hate those. The suspense kills me. And just when we thought we had it all wrapped up a goal by the U.S. to tie it with less than thirty seconds left. Over time just about did me in. But in the end Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal for Canada. Despite being ecstatic that Canada won I felt kind of bad for the U.S. team. They played a really good game and they looked so dejected.

All in all Canada won fourteen gold medals. A record not only for a host country but for the winter Olympics period. I loved the opening and closing ceremonies. It was great to see all the Canadian celebrities. But I especially love William Shatner and Michael J. Fox.

Now that the Olympics are over it’s back to normal. New episodes of favourite shows will be on. I can actually get writing done. During the Olympics I only wrote 3100 words.

Congratulations Canada!

I’m off to get some work done for a change.

Until next time…

This blog is all about entertainment and usually I talk about movies or TV shows. But yesterday I went to an OHL game in Guelph. After two periods of play the Guelph Storm was more of a drizzle. Sever times you could hear the ping as the puck hit the post. Or the smack when it hit the boards. But the goal light remained dark. The Guelph players were good at getting penalties. Of course the theory was that the referees were from Barrie. They were playing the Barrie Colts.

I had high hopes for Tyler Carroll. No relation but same last name so I had to root for him. None of the Guelph players were remarkable though. It’s not entirely their fault. The Barrie team had played together before since most of the members were returning members. For Guelph most of the players were new. Barrie knew how to play together as a team. Guelph, not so much. They were definitely having a bad day. Passing when they should have taken the shot. Shooting the puck when they should have been passing. Passing the puck to no one so it ended up in the hands of Barrie. Less than two minutes into the third period Barrie scored again making it 6 for Barrie and 0 for Guelph.

Finally with 14:29 left in the third period they started playing like a team and they finally scored. Then again with 11:10 left in the period. Both goals by #13, Peter Holland. Then my man Carroll got into a fight. Not a mark on him but the other guy didn’t look too good. And that was the end of the game for him.

Even though they started to pull together they still lost 9-4. I guess since it was an exhibition game no one cared if they won. Well, except Barrie. They played really well. Can’t wait for the season opener. With some practice they’ll be playing like a team and maybe even win.

I’m off to work.

Until next time…
