We interrupt this series…

I had to slip this in now instead of waiting until the end of the screen writing series. I needed to vent. My friend, who shall remain nameless (Christine), is sick. Really sick. Light headed. Coughing. Stuffy. Actually wants to go to the doctor. Sick. So what did she do yesterday? Stay in bed and drink hot liquids? Rest all day so she could get better? No. She went to work. And why did she go to work? Because she’s the only trainer. Now I say, let someone else fill in if they can or send the clients home. Her health is more important. She thinks the clients and her work are more important. Will her company think she’s unreliable if she calls in sick? Maybe. If they’re unreasonable and unfeeling. But her company is an Employer of Choice. So why on earth go into work when you’re that sick? Because she has that complex. That - the whole world will end if I’m not there to stop it complex. And she does what all good mothers do. Puts herself last. That’s fine when it comes to your children. Although I don’t believe mothers should put themselves last. But it’s definitely not fine when you put your job ahead of your health. Okay finished venting.

Part 4 of the series will be up tomorrow.

Until next time…

Early to bed

Yeah, right. I’m a night person. Always have been. I wish I was a morning person sometimes. Especially on Monday mornings. But sadly, I’m not. I’ve tried going to bed early - 11:30. But I just can’t seem to get to bed before 12:30. No matter how much I want to. I have to start getting ready for bed at 9:30. Then maybe I’ll be in bed before midnight. Last night was a typical night. I went to bed at 12:15. Then I couldn’t get to sleep because my horror script kept nagging at me. I had an idea on how to make a scene better. And a thought of an extra scene I could add to up the scare factor. So I turned on the light, went to my office and jotted it down in my notebook. Then I went back to bed. It doesn’t help that I don’t start getting really into the writing process until after 10. So by midnight I’m usually on a roll and don’t want to go to bed. So I force myself. And then the story won’t leave me alone.

My goal for the next couple of weeks at least - be in bed by no later than 11:30. I’m hoping for 11.

So little time

Well, my Daphne entries are finally judged and I sent the score sheets back. I love judging the Daphne but this year I ended up being a lot busier than normal. At least it was only three books to read. It’s all about prioritizing. The Writer’s Digest contest, thankfully, has a late deadline of June 1. It’s $2.00 extra an entry but at least it gives me a little more time to polish the Supernatural scripts. And then there’s polishing the horror screenplay I’m working on. Someone wants to see it so it has to be polished to within an inch of its life. And then there’s Phoenix next week. I’m bringing the scripts with me. But will I get anything done while on vacation? Who knows. I’m hoping.

Well, I’m off to polish.

Happy blogging!

Painting Class starts today!

So, the first of my four classes starts today. I haven’t painted in a while so I decided to pull out the paints Friday to see how rusty I am. Boy am I rusty. The paiting turned out horrible. If you ask my sister she says it turned out okay and I’ve done worse  I guess she’s right. But the paintings that were worse I did when I first started painting. I hope this class can teach me a lot. I really want to get better at this. I’ll post tomorrow about how class went.

Viva Las Vegas

Just got back from Las Vegas a week ago. It was my first time. I have to say I loved it. People had been telling me how great it was there. How much there was to do. But until you go I don’t think you have any idea.

I’m not a gambler and I wasn’t bored once. We didn’t get to do all the things we’d planned. So of course I have to go back. I’d even stay at Treasure Island again. It’s a good home base. Relatively close to everything. Next time I will get to The Venetian and go on those gondolas. I will try the roller coaster at New York New York. And I will get further down the strip than Excalibur.

Happy blogging!

Jeopardy!

One of the guys at my work knows the returning champion who was on Jeopardy!
last night. Well, he should know him. They’re brothers :) It takes a while for the episodes to air. I remember months ago when he was talking about his brother going to the taping. Kind of took the fun out of watching though since I knew he would win the first night and loose the second night  It’s like reading the end of a book first and then reading the rest to see how they got there. Oh well, it will probably be the only time I actually know someone who knows someone who was on Jeopardy! That in itself was exciting. I personally couldn’t handle the pressure of being on the show. I probably wouldn’t even make it past the initial audition or test.

Has anyone out there been on the show? Or know someone who has been on the show?

Happy blogging!
